Roadtripping during our roadtrip! It’s a talent like no other. I don’t like doing nothing, so our first day in Sanlúcar de Barrameda we left to go and visit the neighborhood. Our first stop was Cádiz, the windy city. We had a beautiful blue sky that accompanied us during our little roadtrip, so everything looked better already! In Cádiz we mainly visited the Catedral and went for a walk along the coastline before returning back to our car for the next stop of the little roadtrip: Vejer de la Frontera and Arcos de la Frontera (see more about them in my blogpost ‘White cities of Andalusia’).

We ended our day in Jerez de la Frontera. We booked a tour in the Bodega Tío Pepe (González Byass) and enjoyed a long (!) tour around the bodega, with a very good guide (who didn’t tell us he spoke Flemish (Antwerps) until the end of the tour…) and a tasting with tapas afterwards. We really enjoyed the tour. First they take you with a little train around the outside of the Bodega. Then you enter inside and see all the barrels. For those who want a special place to celebrate their wedding or something like that: they do rent the place for parties! 😉
When the tour ended, it was already dark, so we took a quick walk around the city before we could go and eat some tapas. We asked our guide some tips and he sent us to el Mesón del Asador. Not so touristic, but oh so good!
