Within a few weeks, we’re leaving for Spain. Finally. I’ve wanted to do a small road trip in Spain for a long time now, but I always ended up choosing another destination, or doing something else.

But this year it’s going to happen! But… we’re not doing it ourselves. Between the year I spend, preparing for our roadtrip through the U.S. of A. and moving into our new home… I didn’t had the time to think too much about the next trip. We also didn’t know what to do. How long? A week, two weeks? Shorter? Do we go by plane? Do we take the car? In the end I didn’t want to take the car (and bring our dog) because we would lose too much time. We only had 10 days maximum. So in the end we booked our trip via Travelbird. What’s good about this specific trip, is that we don’t have to worry about looking for hotels or arranging our rental car. And we still have all the freedom we want to get from A to B to C. So it’s a bit the best of both worlds. After checking the hotels and everything that comes with it, we decided to just book the trip. BAM!

Our itinerary is as follows – it’s a busy one, but that’s how I like it:

Day 1     Brussels – Sevilla
Ready to rumble! We start our mini road trip in
Sevilla. I’ve already been here two times, but never as an actual tourist. I was always guided around, without actually seeing anything. So time to make things right!

Day 2     Sevilla
This time we’ll spend a whole day visiting the city. I’m kind of looking forward to it! For me, it’s the most beautiful city in Spain.

Day 3     Sevilla– Sanlúcar de Barrameda
We head out and go towards
Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Sanlúcar is located at the mouth of the Río Guadalquivir. I don’t know it yet – it depends on how we feel about it at the moment – but it could be that we make a giant detour to Córdoba before actually heading to Sanlúcar. I’ve always wanted to visit Córdoba. And there’s no time like the present.

Day 4     Sanlúcar de Barrameda
Today we’re doing a mini trip in the neighborhoud. We drive towards the windy city of
Cádiz to visit the city.  After spending a couple of hours in Cádiz, we leave in the afternoon to make a quick visit to Vejer de la Frontera and Arcos de la Frontera before we head towards spent some time in Jerez de la Frontera where we will try to be on time for a sherry tour with Tío Pepe.

Day 5    Sanlúcar de Barrameda
Time to visit the
Parque Nacional de Doñana! A little bit of nature between al the culture and the cities. But in the end, we decided to have a relaxing Sunday and just stayed inside the town. We walk along the sea/ Guadalquivir and had some lunch.

Day 6     Sanlúcar de Barrameda – Algeciras
On towards our last stop of this trip, Algeciras. Before arriving there, you could pass by
Bolonia, known for its beautiful beach, and some ruins and/ or Tarifa, the most southern point of the mainland of Spain. But we decided to drive straight to Algeciras, so we had plenty of time to visit Gibraltar.

Day 7     Algeciras
Today we booked an excursion to
Marocco! We go spend the day in Tanger. We head out to Tarifa, from where we take the ferry. After our day in Tanger, we go back to Tarifa. Depending on the time (the excursions takes about 6 hours) we can still spend some timein Tarifa, the moust Southern city of mainland Spain.

Day 8     Algeciras – Brussel
We leave in the evening, so hopefully that gives us enough time to take a detour towards the airport in Seville. So time for some more white cities! We start with
Júzcar (which was a white city, but – thanks to the Smurfs – changed into a blue city), Ronda and end up with Setenil de las Bodegas before leaving back to belgium.

We had a splendid trip! Want to know more? Than visit my blogposts:
