The first day of our mini road trip, we left Belgium and headed towards the Parc Naturel Régional de l’Avesnois. I have to say… there aren’t a lot of parks in France that are actually explained towards tourists. We had to figure it out all by ourselves what we could visit/ see, were we could go for a walk… and were on earth we could find a start point to explore the park.
Long story short… once we saw the notification that we were inside the regional nature park, we just looked for brown signs that could lead us to “something to be seen or done”. And so we ended up in the Forêt de Mormal. A forest inside the park – the biggest forest I think. There was nobody else inside the forest, so we could let ourselves go ;-).
Once we went for our walk, we headed out towards Troyes. Troyes is the capital city of the department of Aube in north-central France. It also lies in the Champagne region of Northern France. The city’s also famous for its half-timbered houses (mainly built in the 16th century) who may or may not be standing crooked.
